St. George and The Vortex

While the day warmed up, we took Stella to our favorite thrift shop, Urban Renewal.

And then a vintage general store from St. George's early days, Judd's.

She ate at Cafe Rio twice this first weekend.

There is a hike I saw on Instagram that I've wanted to do for awhile called The Vortex. We took the beautiful drive out past Gunlock Reservoir, which was overflowing from all the recent rain. We stopped and hiked for a closer look.

That is a lot of overflow!

We followed Google Maps to The Vortex. When I looked it up it made it sound like it was just off the parking area. We searched for a good hour trying to find it, but no luck.

We were out in the middle of nowhere, and out of nowhere a guy showed up. He pointed us in the right direction. At this point I think I was the only one wanting to continue on the hike, but my three younger companions were good sports and came along on what turned out to be a 45-minute hike to the actual vortex. It was beautiful scenery the whole way.

We found it! Unfortunately it was filled with water. Normally one can climb down in there.

By the time we got back to the car we were all tired, hot, thirsty, very hungry and so glad we did it.

It was a short trip, but full of God's spectacular creations and good company.
