Morocco! - Part 1

Geoff and Ceci are off on the daddy/daughter trip of a lifetime! So far they are supplying me with pictures and details so I can capture some of their adventures each day.

They flew through the night to Paris (sitting next to our friend, the Horlachers, who we bumped in to in New Zealand! What are the chances?!), and then on to Casablanca.

It was hard to decide whether to see as much as they could of the country or spend more time in one or two cities. They decided to see a lot, so they hit the ground running. Both left fighting colds, so that isn't too fun, but they're making the best of it. They arrived mid-afternoon, did the trip essentials (getting cash and a SIM card), visited the Hassan II Mosque and made their way to the train station.

Ceci succumbed to jet lag. (The lull of the train will do it!)

Next stop, Rabat. They arrived at their Airbnb in the old town where the owner or manager and her friend made them an amazing tangine dinner with chicken, carrots and a delicious sauce. They loved Ceci, who was trying out her French and loved the food. Then again, who doesn't love Ceci?

They sent some pictures of the Airbnb that they had all to themselves. Amazing!

Can you believe all of that tile work?!

The cute owner/manager made them a traditional Moroccan breakfast with fresh tea and they were on their way.

They walked to Kasbah, the old fortified town by the sea (close to their Airbnb). They admired the alleyways...

The many cool doors...

And the incredible tile work!

A pestery tour guide wanting their business, who followed them around for quite awhile, told them the lower walls are painted blue to keep the mosquitoes away. Is that true?

Does green also do the trick?

It is always good to be by the sea.

And get acquainted with the town cat population (I limited the cat photos to this cute kitten).

They only took a backpack, so all of their wanderings are with all they could carry. Ceci likes to simplify, so she'll probably be wearing that same outfit for a week, and Geoff, concerned he wouldn't be able to find food he could eat with his dietary restrictions, packed meals and granola and bars and tea and protein, all in that small bag!

They ate lunch on an old Arabic trading boat-turned-restaurant.

And then it was off to the bus station for a long ride north.

They don't seem sick to me...

They discovered that Geoff has portrait mode on his mini iPad. Very exciting.

Stay tuned!
